Bagger Dave's is one of the restaurants I visit the most often in Terre Haute. They have some seriously delicious burgers: my favorites are train wreck and the blue cheese one. One of my friends raves about the customized burgers too. However, I hate the fact that fries don't come with the burgers: does that even make sense? Yes the fries are good, but not good enough to cost extra. Bagger Dave's also does mac and cheese surprisingly well, especially the smoking hot kind: it is everything you want in mac and cheese, and more. Honestly, I crave for their mac and cheese more than burgers. Never had a bad service here, lovely atmosphere, and the beer train is a nice touch too.

This isn't my favorite or least favorite place. I've never had a really terrible experience at Bagger Dave's, but I've also never had an amazing experience at Bagger Dave's. The service is friendly and swift, but I just always feel like I'm spending to much money for the actual amount and quality of food that I get. Pros: 1. Local beers. I'm not a huge beer drinker but I know lots of people that are, and I love visiting places that serve local options. 2. Super-customizable. I'm a pretty picky eater, and I like that I can build a burger whatever way I want. 3. LOVE LOVE LOVE that they have turkey burgers. That's reason 1 of 2 why I keep going. 4. Gluten-Free menu. My friend has gluten intolerance, and this is one of the few restaurants in town that make eating gluten free really easy. 5. Twisted Mac and Cheese. I do not need a gluten-free diet and therefore I can enjoy this delicious, amazing mac and cheese. Get yourself a side of this as your meal and you'll be more satisfied than with a burger. Cons: 1. More expensive than I feel like I should be spending for a decent burger and fries. 2. Sides are not included with a burger (hence why I feel like I'm spending so much money). 3. Food is not always as satisfying. Numerous people I know comment on leaving hungry after having a full meal, which is terrifying when you consider the actual caloric intake of a burger and fries here. Overall: there are some serious draws for me to eat here, but I don't do it often because I think it's overpriced.

Had the train wreck burger, it was awesome. I also had the twisted mac n cheese. Good food at a decent price. They make all of there pop. The root beer was really good.

I have been to Bagger Dave's multiple times since moving to the Terre Haute area. I really enjoy the concept of this restaurant. Although lately, every time we have decided to eat at this location the service, atmosphere, and quality of food has steadily declined. Ultimately, we have had enough and will more than likely never go back after our past dining experience.

Perfect. Food is delicious. It's fresh, it's well cooked, and the price isn't too bad considering how good it tastes. The restaurant itself is very nice, the wait staff are friendly, the service is quick, and the menu is nice. Great atmosphere. Went there twice, will be going more in the future. Absolutely my favorite restaurant in the area. Tip: figure out the rewards program early on. We couldn't get it set up for our first two meals so we're a little behind, but we'll figure it out eventually!

We won't be back. Service was slow and we were the only ones in there! My burger was itty bitty and really abysmal. The prices were astronomical for what we got. I was still hungry when we left. Save yourself the bother.

Enjoyed dinner here after a 12 hour drive. Nice choice of local beers (assuming you count Michigan as local). Burger was ok, though I think the local definition of medium is a little different than it is in Texas. Awesome fries.

Came here on a whim while passing through town. Should have known better since the place was nearly empty at dinner time. Husband got the train wreck, I got the house salad and kiddos got just average kids meals. The train wreck lived up to its namesake. It was over cooked and flavorless. As for my salad once it was right, it was alright. The first one had lots of frozen lettuce and what would amount to half of a ring of thinly sliced pineapple. For the prices they charge they should include the side with the sandwich. And even the fries weren't that impressive. The thousand island was like none I've ever had before. That's not a compliment. The staff was friendly and the manager comped our sandwich and salad which was nice but I'm not coming back. They have the potential for greatness but I'm not excited about paying that much money for tasteless meat and a salad with canned pineapple on it. Fresh ingredients matter!

Well, I really wanted to like Bagger Dave's. The restaurant is very inviting when I walked in, the hostess very cheery, and my server was also attentive and friendly. I chose the "create your own burger" option. The first red flag was I could only get the patty cooked medium or higher. Guessing the meat was frozen? Every other "hamburger" restaurant offers rare through well done. I liked the bun choice options and the variety of toppings available. Here's where they lost me... * My sharp cheddar cheese was Kraft shredded, blah...not very sharp and minimal. * I ordered raw onion. Rather than a red, Spanish or sweet onion, I received super inedible chopped yellow onions. Like maybe someone thought the chili onions were a good idea. They were so bitter, I had to scrape them off and my hamburger was ruined. * Last thing is please just give me some fries with my burger. Don't make me buy a $3.50 bag that will feed at least two adults. The beer was cold and they were able to get the hockey game on for me.

First time at a Bagger Daves...service was horrible. She asked if we were ready for drinks to go when we hadn't even gotten our food yet. Everything took forever and they were really not that busy. Husband's appetizer soup was cold. They forgot sauce on our daughter's burger. The Mac and Cheese was a runny and water mess that was burned on the bottom of my serving. Overall, just a bad experience. Will not be returning, for a $65 bill it should've been better all around.

This was an excellent experience. The decor is SO much better than the way it was when the location was Garfields. The food was absolutely excellent. Burger was moist and nearly perfectly cooked, little wait time, friendly staff. I liked the ability to build your own burger, and the fries were absolutely top notch. I went with the buffalo bun, guacamole, chipotle sauce, romaine lettuce, tomato, mayo, ketchup, with pepper jack cheese and jalapeños. Will be back again. Often. Best burger in Terre Haute.

Imagine a dry steak and shake burger and that would be the norm for Bagger Daves. We've tried the place twice because I really love a burger with a bunch of junk on it. However, when your burger itself is no good, it's hard to build upon it. The soda really isn't that great either. The beer is more than the bars in Terre Haute. But it is a chain. Maybe we have just had a bad cook the two times we've been but this place was a big let down for me.

Average. Nice atmosphere, virtually no wait time even though it was hopping. I like my burgers pretty plain jane, so I built my own. The bun was the best part...the burger itself was pretty bland. The accompanying fries were good - I am extremely fussy about "fresh cut" fries and these were crispy outside, soft inside. The twisted mac and cheese was very rich and very good. I finished a side of it in lieu of the other half of my burger. The mac and the homemade ginger ale were the best parts for me. My boyfriend ordered the Italian beef and said it was good, but would have been better on the proper roll. I would maaaaaybe come back again to try the turkey burger but honestly, Applebee's and Chili's both have better burgers, at a lower price. Service was fine, but considering that this place calls itself a burger tavern, the burger needs quite a bit of work.

I think this place is a few shades away from being excellent. The food is pretty good for a chain, and the beer selection is refreshing (craft instead of the same old dull and boring mass-produced stuff). But it falls short here and there of greatness. PROS: * The burger was juicy, cooked perfectly to order (medium), with fresh and interesting ingredients. I built my own, which I totally think is the way to go. * Green olives, nice! Loved them! Perfect topping for a burger! * Sauces were VERY tasty/flavorful. I tried the Chipotle (non-BBQ one) and Buffalo Garlic. The former was tangy and nicely salty, and the latter was both spicy and garlicky. You often find a "garlic-blank" sauce tastes infinitely more like "blank" and not a thing at all like "garlic." Not so here. * Beer sampler. Good call. * Craft sodas! Yes! More places need to start doing this! CONS: * World best famous award winning or whatever turkey and black bean chili? Not so much. Bland. Tasty! But, bland. No spice, no salt, no body, just meat, bean, and tomato soup. It's still good, but it could be so much better. * They can only cook the burger medium to medium well. Very strange that a place that prides itself on fresh burgers would not be able to cook the pantheon of temperatures. Suggests they don't grind the meat in the back, which I think all prime burger joints should. * No salt on the pretzel bun. Ugh... why are so many people afraid of salt these days? Yes, if you have certain conditions, you need to watch your intake, but you shouldn't be eating out anyway if that's the case, because you can never control what they do in the back if you can't see it or do it yourself. If you have perfectly working kidneys, drink your water, and salt is not an issue. * Beer selection, even among the craft options, could be bigger. Overall, pretty good place, though. I can see why it grew into a chain. Maybe it will make it out my way some day soon. While I'm in town, though, I might have to stop on by again. Almost forgot! Service! Our waitress was very friendly, but not annoying so. She wasn't trying "too hard," in other words. She seemed genuinely concerned for our well-being and the quality of our experience. She was also very helpful and knowledgeable with the menu options. The manager came by once and asked how everything was, which is always a great touch. No complaints on this front!

Not horrible. Service was just right. Attentive, but not hovering. Menu is , well, different. The italian beef tasted old. House salad was good. Maybe this place just isn't my thing...

I'm updating this review because I have since returned a few times with friends and we've always had a great experience since my first one. There may have been a few kinks to work out when they were new and they have since worked them out. They're still pricey, and serving your own soda with no free refills doesn't resonate with me very much. I would give this a 4/5,but a burger and 2 beers just isn't worth the roughly $25 it usually costs me here. If you're looking to splurge a bit and you don't mind spending a bit more money, this is a good place.

First Time visiting Bagger Dave's. There are many burgers to choose from but we built our own. Juicy succulent burgers worth sinking your teeth into.

OMG!!! This was my first time here and I will be back very soon. The food was AMAZING. I read from another reviewer that it was priced higher than it should have been, I would have paid more! I can not eat beef due to a medical condition, so naturally I was a little worried since they are famous for their burgers. I ended up having a chicken sandwich, Uno, and this was absolutely the most amazing chicken sandwich I have ever eaten. The breast was 7 ounces and was so moist that you could see the juice glistening after taking a bite. Each and every ingredient was fresh, not frozen or canned. And the mac n cheese was a dream. I had the smoking hot mac, it was a bowl of hot creamy mac with toasted cheese, fresh cut jalapeños, and then topped with freshly made Pico. I could have made a meal just out of the mac n cheese. We had to have sodas on this trip, BUT they were craft as well. Can this place get any better? Can't wait to visit again. Thanks Zach for making our first experience a fantastic one! See you in Carmel.

Just opened. Atmosphere was great. Server even changed channel on TV to game I wanted to watch. New staff so wait time was a little long. Ordered specialty hamburger with bleu cheese and a salad. Every thing was really good except the burgers were over cooked to the point of being flavorless and dry. Had to wash every bite down with a drink of my tea. Grand opening sign said 10-30-2013. Hope they learn how to cook their burgers before then. I will try Bagger Daves again and hope to have a better experience.
